92 - new carpets for a new safe home - Sept 2022

With donation 92 we have helped another woman, known as S, who is starting out in new accommodation after a period spent in the women’s refuge. S is in receipt of Universal Credit, but has no savings and moved into her new flat with nothing but a few belongings. To make her empty property more comfortable she really needed to get some carpets and we were pleased to be able to help with £500 towards them. The new carpets have made such a difference to her new home. We wish her well as she settles into her new safe space.

With this £500 donation we are pleased to be able to support  Baby Basics - a local charity who  support  new mothers and families with new babies who are struggling to meet the financial and practical burden of looking after a new baby. 39 - Support for victims & survivors of Domestic Abuse - Rehouse to Rehome - February 2021

For our latest donation we are sending £500 to Francine at  Rehouse to Rehome , a Sheffield based charity supporting and empowering victims and survivors of Domestic Abuse. Our £500 will go towards buying a cooker/fridge/ washing machine for a family that Francine is helping to rehome.  Francine tells us that she has seen a significant rise in requests for help since the beginning of the pandemic. Our donation has been very gratefully received and Francine has kindly sent us this powerful message explaining why: Not having essential household goods often becomes a real and practical barrier that prevents a survivor from leaving an abusive relationship. Even when individuals gather up the immense courage it takes to flee an abusive relationship and, if they are lucky enough to be re-housed by the authorities, there is a strong possibility that they will not get the financial support required to furnish that property with even the most basic of household goods which are a necess...

197 - Help with holiday costs for a family - March 2025

  With donation 197 we have helped a family of 4 have a much needed break. One of our members told us about M, the dad in the family, who has had lifelong diabetes. This has led to kidney failure, as well as other complications including sight loss and terrible infections.  Christmas was a particularly hard time for them as it came to a medical crisis. M needed a port installed in order to have dialysis. However his veins wouldn’t heal enough to support it. There was a concern that he would not be well enough to undergo dialysis at all. And this would ultimately jeopardise any chance of a kidney transplant, which is their end goal.  Thankfully recently, his port healed and dialysis was able to start. This gave the family back some hope that they might have a chance of establishing a new normal.
