107 - Buying shopping for a number of families struggling with cost of living - Jan 2023

And so to our first donation of 2023, which has gone to the incredible community organisation Family Voice, who work for and with families around the Sharrow, Lowfield and Nether Edge area.

They told us about the many families struggling to pay their bills and asking for help and wondered if we might be able to provide supermarket vouchers which will help some of these families to use their money to pay their bills.

We wanted our donation to reach as many families as possible, so we used some of our extra funds and gave Family Voice £1000 to allow them to help 15 families with the extraordinary cost of living challenges they are facing.

Our member from Family Voice has sent us this message, explaining the impact of our support - which extends far beyond just the shopping vouchers.

Thank you so much for the cost of living funds you have donated to families at Family Voice.
When we are able to help a mum in this way it means so much. It relieves stress. It helps mums have their basic needs met. It helps them to feel they are being listened to and cared for.

Having had financial support mums are much more likely to return to ask for more holistic support, which can be preventative, helping to stop other crises arising. Just through giving this money, more conversations will happen and more will be shared.

It's hard to imagine the complexity of some people's lives and how easy it is to get into a downward spiral, and how hard it is to get out.

These donations will make a huge difference. Thanks to everyone who plays their part in making this possible.
