122 - Flooring for a family settling into new home - May 2023

 We are pleased to be able to share news of donation 122.


This time your £500 has gone to help a family who have just settled in Sheffield. They have come from Pakistan with nothing. There is mum, dad and three children (8, 6 and 1 years old). Dad is suffering from poor mental health. The council have housed them but have supplied very little in the house for them. They currently have 1 double bed, one single bed, a settee and a TV.  


The local community worker (who nominated them) has supplied them with crockery, a slow cooker, clothing, shoes, toys and some bedding,  but they were in need of some types of flooring (carpets/ rugs/ lino), so via the community worker, 500 together has provided them with £500 to help with flooring. 


We wish them all the best.

195 - Support for lady with back injury - February 2025

  One of our members asked if we could help S, who recently collapsed in pain, ending up in A&E with a bulging disc in her lower back.  Now back home, she is on crutches, in  immense pain with the disc and sciatica so she can't work - which is a big problem for them as she is self employed.  Her husband works shifts in a local hospital and is taking on more shifts to cover their bills.  She also has problems with her son who has adhd and under support as he often struggles to be able to go to school. Her teenage daughter is trying to help as much as possible but is low and worries about her mum.  We’ve sent £500 to S to pay for some physio to hopefully speed her recovery and return to work and to pay for a cleaner to help the whole family.  Please remember to send in your nominations - this one is a good example of how our donations might be able to help to ease things for a family in their hour of need and perhaps avo...

56 - repairing window after break in at St Wilfrid's Centre - Sept 2021

Our 56th donation goes to St Wilfrid's Centre a well known charity in Sheffield that supports vulnerable, isolated and homeless adults. Sadly there was recently a break-in at the Centre, so 500 Together has donated £190 to meet the costs of replacing the window that was severely damaged in the break-in. The charity say they are extremely grateful to everyone from 500 Together, and send a big thank you for our help. Repairing the window has meant that clients can feel secure and comfortable again and it also means the Centre doesn’t have to use vital funds on repairing the window and can use it to support the people who need help instead.
