218 - Clothing and bedding for local family - August 2025

 One of our members from the amazing Darnall Wellbeing asked if we could help a local family their team has been supporting.

They are a refugee family with 4 children aged 16, 14, 7 and 6.
All 4 children are waiting for school places and are in need of clothing both for in and out of school. They also needed bedding and a tablet to help them with their learning and improving their English.
We were pleased to send £500 for the DWB team to support the family to buy what they needed and we know they have been so grateful for our support.
Thank you all for continuing to send us your weekly contributions - we know from all our recipients just what a huge difference our donations make. It is always a privilege to be able to help organisations like Darnall Wellbeing and the families they support.

206 - Bus pass to allow young woman to travel to college - May 2025

We are pleased to be back with news of donation  206 This latest donation of £500 has gone to help a young woman who has just received her refugee status. This always sounds like a really exciting time but actually it is really hard - being evicted from your accommodation, having to fill in zillions of forms, starting to go to the job centre, applying for universal credit - there's a lot of stressful things to do!  She is particularly young and arrived on her own following traumatic events in her home country. Her mental health has been suffering but she is now doing quite well and wants to attend English classes. She has signed up at Sheffield College and started attending  - but they have run out of money for bus fares that they usually provide for students. 172 - Buying gym clothes for teenage asylum seekers - Aug 2024

  We are pleased to be back with news of donation   172 . With this week's donation we are grateful to our member who linked us up with Mums United ( www.mums-united.com ) , a local group who specialise in helping the most vulnerable  young people, women and groups in Sheffield against rising youth violence and drug exploitation.  Mums United have been working with a group of 17 year old asylum seekers, carrying out sessions to improve their self esteem and give them hope that this is a safe place to live.   They have recently started to access gyms within the Sheffield City Trust and we were asked if we could fund some gym clothing for them which will allow them to feel more comfortable attending sessions.   We were really happy to help and have sent £500 for Mums United to get suitable clothing for the group and hope the young people enjoy accessing the gyms in Sheffield.
