272- paying Brownie subs and uniform for an 8 year old girl - October 2026

We are pleased to be back with news of donation 272. One of our members got in touch to ask if we could help a local family whose 8 year old daughter suffers with her mental health and social anxiety and isolation. She has started at a local Brownie unit to encourage her to interact with her peers and build resilience and confidence. She would love to continue attending, but the family is struggling financially, is accessing food parcels and just do not have the spare cash to cover subs and an updated uniform to allow their daughter to continue. We were delighted to be able to help and have paid £392 to cover the final 2 years of her brownies subs as well as a new uniform. We know this will make a big difference for this young girl to have the security of knowing her place is secure and hope her interactions and experiences within the Brownie community will help her. It is always a pleasure and a privilege to be able to offer these small acts of kindness within the community. We couldn't do it without you.

243 - Funding a short break for disabled man and his carer - March 2026

Our friends at Shasbah (Sheffield Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus) asked if we could help one of their adult members get a short break away from his supporting living home in Sheffield, to have a holiday stay in adapted accommodation in Blackpool. Due to needing 24/7 care, he also has to pay for an additional person to attend too, which makes the cost of the trip quite prohibitive - £780 for a twin room. Shasbah are able to provide their maximum holiday grant of £150 and asked if we could give £500 to add to the pot, which we were pleased to do to allow their member and his sister to plan a 4 night trip to Blackpool in August. This is a much needed change of scene for them and we hope they have a wonderful time.

247 - Bunk beds for a family - April 2026

One of our members told us about a family they are supporting. The family, with 3 boys under the age of 9 years, lives in a small 2-bedroom property, and space constraints are making their living situation particularly challenging. Mum has had a very difficult life and despite her resilience and determination, she is now struggling to make ends meet. She is being assisted with budgeting and debt management, and while she is making very good progress, her financial situation remains extremely tight. One of the biggest challenges she currently faces is her boys' sleeping arrangements. At 2 years old, the youngest boy is still sleeping in a travel cot in his mother’s room and will often disrupt her sleep during the night by climbing in with her. This makes coping with daily life even more difficult. Ideally, mum would like him to sleep in his own bed, and to share a room with her two sons instead.
